Dream of a Green Cat

Cat was for many years the ‘most beloved’ cat in the world for Peter.

But when Peter turned 5 years old, he got a  ‘FISHBOWL’  for his birthday.  It was a present from his mum and dad.

Inside held a goldfish-like beast inside.Icky! Icky! Icky!!

Cat was jealous.

Not a little jealous.  No, a lot!

The first thing Peter did when he got out of his bed, was to say hi to his fish and next came Cat.  Cat couldn’t stand it.

And if Cat came to close to Fish than nasty commentsflew his waylike: ‘Hey, you there, go away’ .

Or in a more threatening tone: ‘ Beware Cat, don’t push it’ !!!

It wasn't funny anymore! Cat had the feeling that Fish was laughing at him from that small round bowl.

It did not matter where Cat was standing or lying down, this FISH could see him all the time and anywhere.

So, one day Cat thought up a list for Fish.

He would drink all the water out of the fishbowl. Bit by bit.

Cat calculated that by drinking the water he could probably empty the bowl in about 3 days.

Cat drank and Fish was very worried. Every time he looked up, less water was there for swimming.

UnfortunatelyCat did not know that Peter’s mum had already figured out what was going on.

And every night, before she went to bed, she put some extra water back in the bowl. Usually she made a nice remark to Cat.

Smiling and saying for instance:

‘Do you really like Fish’s water more than your own?’

‘You silly cat!’

Then she patted him on the back and went upstairs.

Off course Cat did not understand anything she said, but he thought that her friendly voice gave him permission to eat the Fish.

And Cat kept on drinking the water from the fishbowl.

Sometimes he got nasty things in his mouth and they most certainly were not plants…..!!?? Then Cat had a very sore tummy.

And this pain would stay there for a few days.

Drinking all this water was not such a good idea after all.

Cat was thinking things over whilehe lay in front of the fireplace..........
